Christyn Williams scored 21 points and Megan Walker added 15 as the Huskies eased past SMU 80-42 to remain undefeated heading into Thursday’s showdown against No. 6 Baylor in Hartford. The Huskies (12-0, 3-0 American) never trailed and led by as many as 40 points in running their record in AAC regular-season games to 105-0.
Winston-led No. 14 Michigan State tops No. 12 Michigan 87-69
Cassius Winston made his last home game against Michigan memorable with a sensational performance his in-state rivals would rather forget. Winston had a career-high 32 points and nine assists, leading No. 14 Michigan State to a 87-69 victory over the 12th-ranked Wolverines on Sunday. ”It was one of the greater performances that this building has seen,” said coach Tom Izzo, who has witnessed a slew of games at Breslin Center as a head coach and assistant over the last three decades.
Eller’s goal completes Capitals’ stunning OT win over Sharks
The Washington Capitals never believe they’re out of a game. Lars Eller scored with 2:59 remaining in overtime after the Capitals rallied from two goals down in the final minute of regulation, completing a stunning 5-4 victory over the San Jose Sharks. Eller also assisted Jakub Vrana’s second goal of the game with 47 seconds remaining as the NHL-leading Capitals became just the seventh team in league history to win after trailing by two inside the final minute.
‘Near death’ experience gives Osaka new perspective in 2020
Naomi Osaka had what she calls a near-death experience in the off-season. The reigning Australian Open champion will start her season with a first-round match against Maria Sakkari at the Brisbane International, which starts Monday and will share a venue for three days with the ongoing ATP Cup – the new international men’s team competition.
